I am turning 61 tomorrow January 6, 2011 and thinking back at the past years and all the different TV shows and music that I listened to, all the Cowboys and the Western singers. I was listening to my Highwayman CD on the way home from work today and was thinking about Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Hank Williams Jr., Roy Rogers, Kris Kristofferson, Merle Haggard, Marty Robbins, Eddy Arnold and the rest.
Thinking about TV shows like Sky King, My Friend Flicka, Rawhide, The Rifleman, Lassie, Ed Sullivan, The Wonderful World of Disney, Roy Rogers and many other Western shows. Cartoon shows we liked were Mighty Mouse, Donald Duck, Popeye, Tom and Jerry, Underdog, Tom Terrific, Foghorn Leghorn.
I remember the candies we had when I was a kid, the penny candies tootsie rolls, kits, root beer barrels, some things were to for a penny candy bars were generally a nickel each. My favorite candy bar with Walnut crush. My favorite nickel candy was walnettos.
I remember when I was a kid thinking about the new century. The year 2000 and thinking I be 50 years old at that time, it made me wonder if the year 2000 ever come now it's come and it's 11 years later, and not only do we have computers, but I have a program that I'm talking into a headset and the computers typing this all out for me how far we come and how far have good things in of our life been left behind our family, our friends and we had when we are growing up. Now they're so far away, yet I can still remember things that we did when I was a kid like going on picnics and going on vacations, to Lacrosse Wisconsin and Minnesota, catching fish and eating butter brickle ice cream.
I remember each year we would dig up about a quarter of our yard and plant the garden, so amazing, watching all the vegetables growing all the tomatoes, beats, carrots, radishes and corn.
